Visit Christ the Good Shepherd on the fourth Friday of each month and see its Food Closet in action. Because that’s when volunteers are handing out more than seventy bags of groceries to those in need.
Volunteers pack seventy-five bags of groceries on the third Sunday between the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. services.
Extra hands are always needed to help pack the bags on Sunday or distribute them on Friday morning. Paper bags are also needed. They may be purchased at Trader Joe’s – one hundred bags for ten dollars.
The church receives staples from the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and fresh produce from Seeds of Hope, a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles.
With Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner, the Food Closet could use donations to help make a family’s holiday brighter.
